Understanding your baby, supporting relationships and well being
Postnatal courses, classes and groups

Our new and innovative courses, classes and groups are hosted in a relaxed and nurturing environment, using a mix of activities, discussion and film clips throughout the sessions. The group number of each course is a comfortable size to ensure the group needs are met. Not too big but big enough to start making new friendships that can last this new and exciting part of your life.

About the course led by Sandra Barrett... This six week course is suitable for families with children under nine months of age and consists of weekly two hours sessions and gives you an opportunity to:

    • Explore and increase your understanding of developing a responsive relationship with your baby
    • Hear about the latest information about how baby’s brain develops emotionally
    • Explore how you and baby may be feeling and what can be helpful to support you both
    • Think about your developing relationship with your baby now and in the future
    • Increase your understanding of sensitive ways you can respond to your baby eg baby’s crying, developing health sleep patterns and healthy feeding relationship
    • Understand more about your baby’s developmental and play needs
    • Think about experiences of being separate from your baby and how this might feel for both of you

About the course led by Sandra Barrett...This group is suitable for families with infants from birth and consists of four one hour sessions over 4 consecutive weeks. It is a good way to meet other new mums and gives you an opportunity to explore how you and baby may be feeling and what can be helpful to support you both – parenting the brain, an insight on baby’s emotional development – open discussion topics – what next and evaluation.

About this workshop led by Sandra Barrett...This two hour workshop is an interactive discussion on all aspects of feeding your infant:

  • Exploring what you remember about food as a child
  • What you know about your baby’s feeding pattern and cues
  • Preparing to wean
  • Keep it clean
  • Drinks
  • Basic breastfeeding skills
  • Frequency of feeding
  • Looking after your baby’s teeth
  • Safety

The PANDAS organisation is a national support network with online support and peer support groups throughout the country.

The North Tyneside PANDAS Support Group is a peer led group for women and their families in North Tyneside, and it’s surrounding area, who are experiencing primary mental health issues in the antenatal and postnatal period of their life.
